    Frequently Asked Questions

What should I pack for the safari?

Bring lightweight, breathable clothing in neutral colours, a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a good pair of binoculars, and sturdy walking shoes. Don’t forget a waterproof jacket for unpredictable weather and a camera to capture your encounters.

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated on the safari?

Most lodges and camps are able to accommodate dietary restrictions with prior notice. Be sure to inform your travel agent or the accommodation directly well in advance.

Do I need a visa to enter Uganda?

Most visitors will need a visa to enter Uganda. Visas can be obtained on arrival at the airport or online before travel through the official Ugandan Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control website.

Are there any specific health precautions I need to take before traveling?

It’s advisable to consult with a travel doctor about vaccinations for diseases such as yellow fever and malaria prophylaxis. Also, ensure you have adequate health insurance that covers medical evacuation.

What currency is used in Uganda?

The Ugandan shilling (UGX) is the local currency. US dollars are widely accepted, though they must be dated 2006 or newer and in good condition. Credit cards may be used at hotels and some restaurants, but carrying some local currency is recommended.

Can I use my mobile phone in Uganda?

Mobile phones work in most urban areas, and SIM cards are readily available for purchase at very reasonable rates. Check with your provider about international roaming charges, or consider purchasing a local SIM card on arrival.
